#BlackOutTuesday

Something different, but something much needed today here on the 75th day (in a row) of The Income Stream.

Featured song: Purpose, by K. Sparks:

Book I'm reading to educate myself:

To the Quaranteam,

If what you see bothers you or makes you feel uncomfortable, I understand. These topics are not always comfortable to think about, but that's all the more reason to think about them and discuss. If it helps any, know that my kids (7 and 10) know I'm doing this on the stream today.

I encourage you to have open and respectful conversations in the group during this hour together. If you'd rather leave, I understand.

I'll be back tomorrow with our regularly scheduled programming, but this is far too important to just sit back without addressing here on the show. We are a community, we are here for each other, and today, I'm learning and educating myself.

Thank you, Team Flynn, and please feel free to share this should it resonate with you.

Thank you. Having watched you on and off for 8+ years, I know how sincere you are. We’ll probably never meet but I believe what you have written here and know you will do what you can.

If naysayers leave negativity because they did not get a free piece of content from you today, that says everything about them.

All I can say is read ur bible, then u will really see why they “the nations, all of them” hate us, It’s prophecy, we fit all the curses in the Bible, so my brother if u don’t repent and turn ur life over to the most high u will die, by his hands..so if u wanna understand, I hope u understand that this thing we’ve been going through for 400 years is not because some people of your race of people hate and kill us, it’s bigger than that, Make a decision to really understand and read the Bible. And if you decide to read the Bible read the King James Version it’s has been tampered with so make sure it has the Apocrypha inside of it; it has the doctrine in it that they tried to remove from the Bible. But every book is inside the Cepher u can find it on Amazon. So don’t feel sorry for us; feel sorry for every nation that the Most High scattered us to, we are not African can’t y’all see we don’t look like or talk like Africans, they had a hand in selling us as well; folks we are the children of Israel; our forefathers didn’t keep the Most High’s Laws Statutes and Commandments that are listed in the Bible so the most high did to us what he said he would do make us slaves and every nation will hate us; So my brother what they do to us is a prophecy, it has to happen in order for the The Most High to come in and wipe away all our tears, those of us who love him and keep his commandments; because trust me it’s not going to matter what color you are if you’re not doing so. Better read your bible and turn your lives around we are in the very last days and I’m so grateful that I get to see god destroy all this mess we been going through for the last 400 years…Also go to the Hebrewstonegroes website and get some edification on why they hate us..it’s mind blowing!

First of all I am glad you are reflecting on the current situation and that you are willing to admit you need to learn more. Taking that first step is huge and others should take your lead. However, I was surprised, to say the least, that you stated “I had no idea” and that you think most people don’t. I for one have known since the 1990s that we live in a systemically racist country of which the police are only one component. To read that you had no idea, presumably about the day-to-day injustice, racism, discrimination etc. felt by black and brown people from police and others was a shock. You yourself are half Filipino, which I wrongly assumed, would make you more aware of people of color’s day-to-day struggles with racism and discrimination.

I am perceived as white, which I ethnically mostly am, so I do not have to deal with being discriminated against or treated differently because of my skin color. However, I have seen first hand, heard second hand and have educated myself over the years through reading and watching many films etc. about the reality of our country’s racist and discriminatory history. My wife is Latina, and she has and continues to have to deal with racism and discrimination on a small person-by-person basis and on a larger institutional scale.

I am learning from your words today that I should do less assuming about people. I should also remember to speak up when a wrong is being committed, no matter what the potential cost to me may be. People who look like myself should be aware of their privilege and not use it, even in small ways, to benefit themselves or hurt others.

I recommend reading “The Fire Next Time” by James Baldwin, “Native Son” by Richard Wright, “The Bluest Eye” by Toni Morrison, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” by Maya Angelou, “The Invisible Man” by Ralph Ellison, “The Autobiography of Malcolm X”, which rocked my world when I read it, “Dear White America” by Tim Wise and “The New Jim Crow” by Michelle Alexander. These books will give you a new perspective on this country and open your eyes even further, as they did mine.

Good call, Pat. Highlights: “Love one another.” “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” I read your statement to my husband & 3 adult children. We’re reading the book and discussing it. GG will be addressing this issue with the kiddos in next Sunday’s video. Thanks for the good call to action.

I was wondering if you were going to stay silent Pat and I have to say I am so happy to see this. Being apolitical is a choice and a privilege. Rock on Pat!

Question: why were you or better yet, how were you being racist before? And why did this go from police injustice to black vs white. Is every freak’n person going to virtue signal today? What is this…

    • Arsenio Buck June 2, 2020 at 10:03 pm #

Because white people like you are the ones who lack empathy. And this is how it went from bashing police, to going after the “racism-in-your-blood middle Americans.

    • McCoy Buck June 2, 2020 at 10:11 pm #

@Arsenio Buck white people like me? Tell me where does the line get drawn, is that not racist and prejudiced what you just said? I simply asked a question – I have not seen Pat or many others be racist. So why are they blaming themselves?
