Hey, Pat, I use to do this in the opposite order. First step, I record my drawings, and then I put them on Camtasia, speed the video up and record a voice over. I takes some editing, but works fine too. 😉

How are you able to keep track of what you are saying on longer clips? It was impossible to hear they words in a 10 second clip, so I can’t imagine what it’s like doing a 3 minute tutorial or other longer video. Is it all guess work?

What would you suggest – talk first and draw later or the other way around?

@VideoAulas ByAna, I’ve been searching for a way to achieve that effect. May I ask, what program do you use to record the voice over?

draw 1st and speed it up, then record the voice will be much easier.

The reason why not to use VideoScribe is because in most cases you can easily tell when an animation has been made with it. So many people use VideoScribe now, so if you take the time and effort to use a tablet and your own handwriting it will stand out a lot better from the lemmings.

Is there a reason why you couldn’t create the video first – to a script and then record yourself reading the script while you watch the video playback?

QuickTime can simultaneously record the screen and capture the sound.

Is there any screen capture apps for Ipad?

Great video Pat! But wouldn’t it be easier to record the video, then speed it up in your editing software and then record the voiceover while you watch the video play back? You will save time and it won’t be as difficult!
