As a Web Developer, this would’ve gotten me… The password thing would’ve given me pause because the usual prompt for this type of thing is to select an email address already in the database. The fact that the site had the secure lock logo, and a legitimate url I’d have been likely to fill things out unless something popped up when I googled the url. Thanks for speaking about this.

Now THIS is the legendary stuff YouTube viewers want to see! Also it’s good to check the sender email address, that could tell you most of the times if it’s a scam or not (0:25 on the video)

Thanks Pat! It burns me that people can be so skillful, but use that skill for selfish gain and the expense of others, instead of building a business to help others!

Wow they put a lot of effort into that. Do you think they would just sell the page, use it to drive traffic somewhere, or …

Just another way FB has outgrown their own security capabilities. Every app should be manually reviewed by a person to make sure stuff like this doesn’t happen. FB instead automates as much as possible and arrogantly thinks its software is a lot smarter than it is.

Thanks for taking the time to explain Pat. One of the best thing to do is contact these companies directly from their websites through their support/contact us pages. If you’re ever in doubt, it is always best to play it safe that way. Plus, notifications like those normally also come directly to you on the platform itself.
