Thank you for the great work you make
I’ve had my Rodecaster PRO for about a month and absolutely LOVE it. I’m never going back to my Zoom.
As an aside: I also invested in the Rode Podmic to go with it, and for me, for my voice, in the environments I record in, it sounds nicer than the Heil PR40, ever so slightly better than the Shure SM7B, and far better than my old AT2020 condenser.
I grabbed a hard case that can contain the Rodecaster PRO and four Podmics (and cables) over at BH, so now that is also my portable kit.
@James Christie Here’s the link to the case that can hold the Rodecaster PRO plus four Podmics:

They also have another version for just two Podmics (or you can take the mic padding out and just have more room for cables). That one is here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1475705-REG/skb_3i1813_7_rcp_rodecaster_case_pe_form_cut.html
Ken Wallace Thanks, Ken!
Pat Flynn nice! Thanks, Pat.
@Pat Flynn Excellent! I’ll keep an eye out for that.
NEW TOY FOR THE WISHLIST!!
Great, personal, and relevant review. it available over at Thomann USA https://www.thomannmusic.com/rode_rodecaster_pro.htm (No, it is not an affiliate link) 🙂
Been using it for a couple months and it’s great. I use it as an interface though and not through the SD card as polywav files and process is a bit cumbersome. If you can do a video on that it would be very helpful.
*Adds to list of awesome things to get to take What’s Your Emergency to the next level! Cheers, Pat!
Love this! Thanks Pat for the review and endorsement. Will definitely invest in this when the budget allows. I see this as advantage to BEGIN my podcasting journey with, and excel the learning curve. By the way, your latest book, SUPERFAN…. Amazing! Thanks again for the content you produce.
Would you use this if you were starting?
If I had the budget, yes – if not, I’d save it for later.
Great explainer video and down to earth which I love. Might buy one but prefer this review compared to more tech faced ons have seen as shows the kit in use.
Honestly, I always feel dumb watching other people’s tech reviews. Thanks for the kind words Dr. Gandalf!
“G’day Mate.” I’m glad you left that in. #TeamFlynn
Great explainer video. Question: If you are only doing guest interviews via ZOOM or Skype and don’t plan on taking this on the road (I have Zoom 6HN for that), will this still help?
Yes, for a couple reasons – you could have a local recording of yourself as a backup with the SD card situation. Second, soundboard for easier editing (as you go) versus in post for intros and transitions (and the airhorn sound effect, lol), the ability to easily and on the fly add in sounds from your computer (so imagine sound clips from youTube or other podcasts that you just hit play on in Apple Podcasts – and then you comment after that in your recording), and finally, the increased sound quality with all the built in components.
@Liron Segev Yes – 100%. Isn’t that crazy!?
@Pat Flynn oh. my….Gamer. Changer!!!
I’m going to buy one through your affiliate link. Thanks!
Adam, you’re amazing! Thank you!
@Pat Flynn You’re amazing, Pat! 🙂
Pat…. Thanks for reviewing this item. I’ve been on the fence on whether or not to purchase this for a first time podcast, and wondered what you thought about it. We are doing a streaming TV variety talk show this winter, and we want to support it with some sidecar features such as a podcast. Thanks for all your thorough reviews. I’m happy I subscribed to your channel few months ago. Building up a sponsorship will be the next huge task, but having an item like this removes most of the tech mumbo jumbo saving time … and I have a tech background for TV.
Thanks John! Any questions I can answer for you about it? Did the video help?
I’ve had this for a bit.. my only question I can’t figure out is how to know what your actual output levels are when live-streaming. Or what it will sound like to those listening live.
